Uganda’s Energy and Minerals Week is an annual sector event hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. It comprises of various deep dive conferences and workshops including the Energy Efficiency and E-mobility Conference from 28-29 October, the Renewable Energy Conference (REC 24) from 31 October – 2 November, and the Power Forum on 30 October 2024.
This year’s Power Forum, dedicated to “The Evolving Ugandan Energy Sector”, is presented by the Ministry in partnership with the European programme GET.transform. Fostering meaningful dialogue on key issues and opportunities, the Power Forum has become a catalyst for collaboration and knowledge sharing among decision-makers, government officials, utilities, regulators, development finance institutions, commercial banks, project developers and technology providers. The Forum highlights the significance of multi-stakeholder engagement in driving positive change, attracting investments, and fostering innovation in Uganda’s power sector.
GET.transform will be moderating a session on regional interconnection and integration which is set for expert participation from ERA, UETCL, EAPP, the EU Delegation in Uganda and private sector representatives: “EAPP and Frameworks for Trans-Boundary Power Generation & Transmission Projects” (30 Oct, 11.40am-01:00pm EAT)
Following the Power Forum, the Renewable Energy Conference starting on 31 October will see further Team Europe contributions from GET.transform and its sister programme GET.invest.
GET.transform will present best practices for mini grid sector regulation on the continent in the session “Enhancing the Enabling Environment for Mini-Grid Development in Uganda” (31 Oct, 08:30 – 10:30am EAT). GET.invest will introduce the GET.invest Finance Catalyst and demonstrate the transformative impact of the Team Europe One Stop Shop in a session aiming to connect entrepreneurs, investors, partners, and peers: “Meet the Entrepreneurs”
(31 Oct, 02:00-05:00pm EAT).
The entire week is set to strengthen partnerships and support Uganda’s journey towards a sustainable and resilient energy future.
