The seventh plenary of The Regional Forum of Energy Planners (FOREPLEN) was held in Guatemala City from 28-29 November 2024. The forum is organised by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). GET.transform provides strategic support to FOREPLEN since 2019, and this year, our experts contributed to the event with planning and workshop design.

FOREPLEN focuses on strengthening institutional and technical capacities, as well as fostering peer to peer exchange of energy planning authorities in the region. This year’s Forum brought together delegates from eleven countries and five key energy sector organisations The representatives had the opportunity to network, share experiences and best practices, and collaborate on new ideas for the future in energy planning in the region.

GET.transform contributed with valuable insights on regional energy integration: Antonio Levy, senior coordinator for Latin America, provided opening words. Alessia da Vita, advisor for energy planning, contributed with an in-depth look at global best practices and challenges in Energy Planning.  Finally, Rafael Parada, advisor for the regional window Central America, led participatory workshops on resiliency planning and participatory mechanisms in energy planning processes.

The GET.transform team looks forward to the continued collaboration with UN-ECLAC in strengthening regional electricity planning for greater integration of renewables and electricity exchange between countries in the LAC region.
