Returning for the 26th year, the Africa Energy Forum (aef) will be held in Spain from 25 to 28 June 2024 with over 2000 stakeholders and over 300 speakers. The event works towards uniting key stakeholders, investors, and future leaders of Africa’s energy sector on a platform for collaboration and innovation.

The breakfast session “Effective Tendering for Renewable Energy IPP Development” (27 June, 8am CEST) will be chaired by Anton Eberhard, Professor Emeritus & Senior Scholar at the University of Cape Town and see expert insights from

Drawing on findings from a recent report by GET.transform, the Power Futures Lab and the Sustainable Renewables Risk Mitigation Initiative (SRMI), the discussion will centre around:

  • reasons for the mixed performance of tenders over the past 5 years
  • factors underpinning successful RE tenders in Africa
  • key design decisions needed to ensure tendering success
  • situations in which tenders might not be the ideal option.

Further vital insights on renewable energy investment are also shared in an expert session supported by our sister programme GET.invest: “Financing & Derisking Investment in African Clean Energy Infrastructure”, 28 June, 11.30am CEST.
